(1) A wide choice of origins and characters from Silmarillion and the War of the Jewels (2) A more restricted version, where all players are tied to one small faction one way or another. I've found the best answer to that conundrum is “Yes, and then He'd do it anyway.” XD. It's so sad that the Tolkien family said they wouldn't allow Peter Jackson to get the rights for The Silmarillion =/ this broke my heart.
